Key Responsibilities
- Performs L2 and some L3 Production support for BW (Incidents and Problems)
- Undertakes service catalogue changes (standard changes and requests)
- Performs job monitoring, liaising with appropriate business and or technical teams to resolve any issues.
- Investigation into BW failures as a result of any other technical monitoring activity (e.g. by RISE or Technical Operations team)
- Undertakes other administration support tasks such as executing ad hoc reporting and analysis for data governance and analytics teams.
- Technical change support (impact assessment, verification)
- Whilst a dual track landscape is in place, the BW analyst along with other analysts and developers will support the change retrofit process
- Undertakes fix on fail work – including configuration of fixes, work with developers on fixes, unit testing and support of other test phases related to such changes, following all necessary governance processes – especially where a fix is complex / could impact integrations.
- Receive handover into support from delivery teams (attending KT, defining knowledge articles etc.)
- Escalate to and work with counterparts in Functional Change and Development on complex problems, taking advice to resolve issues effectively without compromising the solution / in flight releases.
- Identification and investigation into problems including root cause analysis.
- Support for environment refreshes and builds in the Production support landscape – working with QA and Environment Manager to perform check out validation.
- Support for Disaster Recovery Planning and recovery
- Identification of changes required to correct functional problems – raising these up to the Functional. Change and Design team.
- Identify areas where process training / process support is needed to prevent repetitive processing errors by the user community – to reduce ticket numbers and improve user experience.
- Support the application of hot packs & OSS notes
- Maintenance of solution support knowledge documentation such as runbooks and inputting to service guide.
- Maintenance of Solution documentation (as appropriate – related to changes made for fixes etc)
- Delivery of small enhancements within agreed capacity

Technical / Professional Expertise
- Good experience as an SAP BW support consultant with knowledge of wider data lake and reporting technologies.
- Experience of both BW 7.5 and BW/4HANA, with knowledge of the differences and supporting both environments. LSA++, New ADSO types and new concepts
- Good understanding of typical integrations within SAP and from SAP technologies to wider architecture.
- HANA Calculation Views as reporting/ETL objects
Experience of HANA DB Studio - Sound business process chain knowledge.
- Manage large data sets in BW and options for managing table sizes:
- Logical partitioning for Active tables to manage table sizes
- Managing change log sizes
- Experience with specific data source types and technologies for supporting DataEcosystem feeds:
Inventory (2LIS_03*) extractors and Inventory-enabled ADSOs in BW
Purchasing (2LIS_02*) extractors
Sales and Billing (2LIS_11* & 2LIS_13*) extractors
- Sound knowledge of testing best practice – especially in scoping tests, drafting and executing for Unit test and SIT.
- Good end to end solution understanding – especially for typical end to end scenarios related to functional specialism – enabling sound designs, and CR impact assessments that think of impacts on other areas of SAP or the wider application landscape.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Solution Manager Process Documentation best practice.
- Have advanced skills in Microsoft Office – especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to support analysis, documentation, and presentations as part of day-to-day role.
