The Opportunity
Join Aggregate Industries as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at our Glensanda Quarry, one of the largest granite quarries in Europe, recently Glensanda exported its 200 millionth Tonne of Granite. You'll play a key role in maintaining and repairing electrical systems, ensuring smooth operations across our flagship site. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated electrician to contribute to a 24/7 operation in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete all safety documentation related to departmental tasks.
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance to ensure continuous production.
- Respond quickly to plant breakdowns, ensuring prompt resolution and effective follow-up repairs.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and hazard-free working environment.
- Carry out cleaning, checking, testing, and repairing electrical equipment, including:
- Drive motors, control panels, substations, and programmable control systems.
- Motor contactors, relays, overload switches, and emergency stopping mechanisms.
- Participate in HV switching operations (training provided) and manage permits for high-voltage equipment.
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and maintain cable installations.
- Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log work, order parts, and track progress.
Who You Are
You’re a dedicated Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a strong technical background and a commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, including fault-finding and repairs on various plant equipment. Experience working with 3-phase 415V systems is highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance, City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent). Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical and control systems, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Familiar with safe working practices, including LOTOTO, Work at Height, and Confined Space procedures.
- Highly motivated, organised, and proactive with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- This role requires flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and nights.
