Summary
I’m looking for an additional job alongside my mobile hairdressing business & I can bring a vast array of skills and responsibilities gained in my current role, as well as those gained in a Business Support Assistant role last year.
Running my own hairdressing business for the last 17 years has allowed me to gain and nurture many transferable skills which will be vital to the role of Administrator. These include keeping accurate accounts & filing tax returns, purchasing and administration skills such as running a diary and scheduling appointments via various communication methods. Time management, identifying priorities and accuracy are also crucial in my current role which all crossover with an administrative position. As a sole trader and a mum of two children, I have honed my multitasking skills and am adept at prioritising tasks, especially under time pressures. I have a keen interest in graphic design and have utilised these skills in my business to create marketing literature for various uses which could be useful in many roles. Another important element in my current, and previous jobs has been excellent people skills, I can communicate easily and effectively with a wide range of people and quickly build a good rapport. Every job I’ve worked in has been customer/client facing, which equates to 25 years of experience in dealing with people and seeing their needs are met.
From March to July last year, I took a break from my hairdressing business to take on a fixed term role of Business Support Assistant in a school office. I loved the role and thrived there during this time. My responsibilities were wide ranging, from maintaining the registers, preparing documents and reports for the business manager, senior leadership and governors, accessing and scheduling diary appointments for senior leadership and designing publicity/recruitment material. Most of the incoming phone calls and emails came via me so it would be my responsibility to deal with these and prioritise them in importance. I also had to communicate with many outside agencies, and send out appropriate bulletins to parents. I relished in making some changes to the existing procedures to streamline, cut down on printing/filing and to run things more efficiently. I have experience using many IT programmes and am intuitive when using something new. For example, in this role the school used the google suite, of which I hadn’t had much experience but soon picked it up. I enjoy taking on such challenges and easily pick up new skills.
I enjoyed my role in the office and also love running my own business. I’m looking for an opportunity to work around 2 days to diversify my working week. My raw experience may not be extensive but I have a strong work ethic and am extremely eager to learn.
I take pride in my attention to detail, and ability to work independently. I am extremely reliable and along with my skillset consider myself a strong, dependable and enthusiastic candidate.
