The BBC Flexi Job Apprentice Agency (FJAA) is offering an exciting opportunity to be a Level 3 Production Apprentice.

The production apprenticeship helps you gain experience in the exciting world of media production. You’ll learn on-the-job, developing your knowledge and skills while working towards your production apprenticeship qualification with our learning provider Bauer Academy.

Through the BBC’s Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency, you will be hired by the BBC and be placed with Audio Always for the first 6 months of your apprenticeship. The BBC will work with Audio Aways and Bauer Academy to oversee your successful progress on the apprenticeship. After 6 months you may be given the opportunity to stay at Audio Always, or the BBC will find you a new placement.

Audio Always are an independent production company that develop, produce and deliver podcasts, radio programmes and audiobooks for listeners worldwide.

This is an exciting first step into the editorial side of programme making, giving tools for future careers in fields such as Runner, Junior Researcher, Broadcast Assistant, Content and Edit Producer, Junior Production Coordinator, or Technical Operator.

An apprenticeship requires full commitment and discipline from the learner. Alongside experiences and training, there is an expectation of wider self-learning and the requirement to meet learning objectives and deadlines, as outlined by the apprentice standards. Apprentices must show that they are dedicated to accomplishing the knowledge, skills and behaviour requirements outlined in their apprenticeship learning plan.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?

In your first placement, you will learn a wide range of skills which may include:
o   Planning creative content for maximum multi-platform impact.
o   Supporting Executive Producers, Producers and Broadcast Assistants through the production process.
o   Researching relevant content and identifying contributors.
o   Coordinate guest bookings, including communication and scheduling.
o   Editing audio and loading onto broadcast systems.
o   Capturing visual assets to be used as part of multi-platform promotion of the content.
o   Writing engaging Programme Information to stakeholder requirements.
o   Submitting all required paperwork for content delivery.
o   Archiving audio and logging relevant information.
o   Contributing to creative brainstorms and suggesting new audio content ideas and formats.

What will you be studying?

You’ll be studying your industry recognised qualification, learning both on- and off-the-job in a programme delivered by Bauer Academy and based on the apprenticeship standard. We’ll also give you BBC Academy training, delivered by our experienced trainers.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:

Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in April 2025
Live within a commutable distance of MediaCityUK
By the start of the apprenticeship in April 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years
Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract
Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.

Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level
Be available for the in-person assessment which will take place at BBC MediaCityUK on Tuesday 18th March 2025
Be able to start on Tuesday 22nd April 2025.
