Superdrug Launches Recruitment Drive for 1,000 Festive Roles

Spread the word

Superdrug has kicked off its Christmas recruitment drive, announcing plans to hire an additional 1,000 sales assistants to support its stores across the UK during the festive season. As one of the UK’s leading health and beauty retailers, Superdrug is preparing for the busy "golden quarter" with an emphasis on delivering excellent customer service throughout the holiday period.

While the roles are temporary, Superdrug has a track record of moving talented seasonal staff into permanent positions where possible. The company has been actively expanding, with plans announced earlier this year to open 25 new stores, creating 350 jobs in locations such as Bedford Interchange, Metro Centre Gateshead, Rotherham, and Chelmsford. Alongside its seasonal recruitment, the retailer continues to hire for managerial roles and health and beauty team positions.

Amy Davies, People Director at Superdrug, spoke about the qualities they are looking for in new recruits: “We are looking for people with an eagerness to learn and a love for customer service. In return, we are delighted to offer one of the best employment packages and training programmes in retail.” She added that successful candidates will be joining a “fun, passionate and supportive culture, where individuality is celebrated, and everyone is equally committed to making things happen together.”

Superdrug’s seasonal recruitment push comes on the back of a strong year for the company. In December 2023, the retailer reported a 9.2% year-on-year sales increase, driven largely by the success of its O+O (Offline plus Online) strategy. The company has also seen significant engagement from its Health & Beautycard members, with exclusive deals proving popular among customers.

Peter Macnab, Superdrug’s Chief Executive, expressed confidence in the upcoming holiday season, citing strong trading throughout the year. "We know we have great deals coming for Black Friday and a best-in-class offering for Christmas. This enables us to confidently create jobs and ensures we deliver the excellent service expected when customers choose to shop at Superdrug," Macnab said.

For those interested in joining the Superdrug team this Christmas, the recruitment drive represents a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing retailer with a focus on customer service and team spirit. With the possibility of securing permanent roles, Superdrug’s festive recruitment campaign is an excellent chance for individuals eager to gain retail experience and make the most of the busy holiday season.

Superdrug’s commitment to providing robust training programmes and attractive employment packages makes it a standout employer in the retail sector. The company continues to innovate and expand, with its Christmas recruitment drive serving as another step in its growth strategy.
